With Valentine's Day approaching, singles in Hong Kong can't stand the
idea of celebrating the festival alone. So, many are now turning to speed
dating activities to find that special someone.

Up until today, over 2400 single people in Hong Kong have singed up to
speed dating parties, to be held this Valentine's Day.

Entering the Hong Kong market in 2002, speed dating services have become
the first choice for local singles who want to multiply their chances of
meeting their Mr. or Mrs. Right. Source from the local newspaper Ming Pao
says that every year, there are 65,000 young people taking part in the
speed dating parties held by 30 agencies, bringing the industry a yearly
income of 20 million HKD.

Speed dating companies organize parties, dancing classes and many other
activities in romantic cafes or clubs to help single young people pair
off. In addition, they also provide such services as helping the clients
to improve their personal style and dress sense, to increase their chance
of finding love.

Statistics from the government of the Hong Kong SAR show that there are
2.6 million single people aged between 20 and 44 in Hong Kong. Many
professional workers like engineers, teachers and healthcare workers are
forced to stay single because of their long working hours and humdrum
lifestyle.
